The Battle of Chancelorsville

We had the day off yesterday and decided to go to Fredericksberg, which is about an hour away and has a great mall. On the way, we kept seeing all these historical signs and decided to stop at one. It happened to be in Chancelorsville where Stonewall Jackson was injured and killed by accident by his own men...crazy! We saw the old memorial and then the new memorial both for Jackson. James' favorite part was the canon and pretending to load it and shoot people.

This is the new memorial...

And this is the old memorial. I think it is out of Quartz and when it was dedicated in 1888 more than 5,000 people attended...crazy huh? Especially for such a small memorial stone.
